The Faculty of Social Sciences at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi (KNUST), through its Committee on Research and Grantsmanship, has organized a grant-writing workshop to equip lecturers with the knowledge and practical skills needed to develop competitive research proposals and attract external funding.
Renowned African historian and scholar Professor Toyin Falola has urged African nations to integrate ancestral science and indigenous knowledge systems into contemporary development strategies.
He made the call during a public lecture organized by the Faculty of Social Sciences at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST),Kumasi themed “Ancestral Science and Technology for Modern Development.”

Prof. George M. Bob-Milliar, Associate Professor at the Department of History and Political Studies and also Director of the Centre for Cultural and African Studies, (CeCASt) College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CoHSS), has been awarded a grant by the Danish Independent Research Fund. The Research Grant was awarded to fund a research project entitled Environmental Crime and Illegal Ecologies (ILLECO), led by the University of Copenhagen, Denmark.

The Strategic Purchasing Africa Resource Center (SPARC) in collaboration with the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) held a policy dialogue to discuss the strategic health purchasing in Ghana in December 2021. The dialogue sought to bring together major stakeholders in the delivery of health services as well as experts in academia and policy formulation. These major stakeholders were from the Ministry of Health, the Ghana Health Service, the National Health Insurance Agency, the Private Health Facilities of Ghana, and the Christian Health and Association of Ghana.
Four Social Scientists from the Faculty of Social Sciences have won research funds worth one hundred and seventeen thousand, nine hundred and fifty Ghana cedis (GHC 117,950.00) in total from the 6th KNUST Research Fund Awards (KReF). The four lecturers were among a total of twenty-nine successful applicants from the whole university.
